‘States of Endurance’: McLaren’s Epic Road Trip Across America Celebrates 30 Years of Le Mans Glory
McLaren has always stood for endurance, resilience, and uncompromising performance. Thirty years after its legendary 1995 victory at Le Mans, the brand has marked the milestone with an ambitious tribute – a coast-to-coast drive across the United States called the ‘States of Endurance’ road trip.
This wasn’t just any road trip. Covering 3,867 miles across eight US states, the journey brought together McLaren’s racing DNA, engineering brilliance, and the endurance mindset that continues to define the brand. Three McLaren supercars – the 750S Coupe, 750S Spider, and the Artura Spider – spearheaded the drive, each wrapped in special liveries symbolizing the Dawn, Day, and Night phases of a 24-hour race.
Celebrating Endurance Beyond the Track
The route wasn’t chosen by chance. Starting in Monterey, California, the trip kicked off at Monterey Car Week, where McLaren also unveiled Project: Endurance for its North American debut. From there, the convoy made ‘Pit Stop’ events in cities including Newport Beach, Scottsdale, Dallas, Atlanta, Orlando, and finally Miami. Each stop allowed fans and owners to connect with the brand’s legacy while celebrating the future of endurance racing.
Professional McLaren drivers Paul Rees, Jack Barlow, and Oliver Webb took the wheel, not just to demonstrate supercar capabilities but to share stories of endurance with a diverse group of people they met along the way – from astronauts and ranchers to world-record-holding athletes. Even Justin Bell, who raced the McLaren F1 GTR at Le Mans in 1995, joined the celebrations, offering first-hand insight into what endurance truly means.
A Lifestyle of Performance and Resilience
The collaboration with TUMI, McLaren’s official partner, added another layer of lifestyle performance to the trip. Drivers traveled with exclusive pieces from the TUMI | McLaren Spring 2025 collection, including the Velocity Backpack in Super Grey – a seamless blend of function, design, and automotive inspiration.
But at its core, the ‘States of Endurance’ journey was about showcasing what makes McLaren supercars exceptional: uncompromising lightweight engineering, dynamic precision, and the ability to deliver track-bred thrills on open roads. The McLaren 750S, the brand’s lightest and most powerful series-production car yet, and the Artura Spider, a high-performance hybrid built with McLaren’s hallmark super-lightweight philosophy, perfectly embodied this spirit.
Looking Ahead: From Legacy to the Future
Endurance has always been McLaren’s language – from Formula 1 circuits to the grueling Le Mans 24 Hours. Now, the legacy lives on through the Project: Endurance car, which paves the way for McLaren’s return to endurance racing’s top class in 2027, and through the next chapter of innovation with the upcoming McLaren W1 – successor to the legendary F1 and P1.
As Henrik Wilhelmsmeyer, Chief Commercial Officer of McLaren Automotive, put it:
“Endurance racing represents McLaren’s tenacity, and the States of Endurance journey is a perfect intersection of our endurance heritage with the cutting-edge engineering, technologies and uncompromising standards that make our supercars capable of experiences that still resonate with the driver long after the journey ends.”
The road trip may have ended in Miami, but the message is clear: endurance is not just a racing strategy – it’s a mindset to live by.
