Acura RSX Prototype Makes Global Debut at Monterey Car Week
Acura has officially unveiled the RSX Prototype, a dramatically styled premium performance SUV, during Monterey Car Week. Painted in a captivating Propulsion Yellow Pearl, the RSX Prototype previews the brand’s first all-electric model set to arrive in the second half of 2026.
The reveal took place at two of the most prestigious events of the week – The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance – signaling Acura’s bold step into the next era of electrification and high-performance design.
A Milestone in Acura’s Electrification Strategy
The RSX will be the first model engineered in-house on Honda’s new global EV platform, a significant leap for the brand. It also becomes the first EV produced at Honda’s EV Hub in Ohio, where it will be built alongside the Acura Integra at the Marysville Auto Plant.
This flexible manufacturing strategy allows Honda to assemble internal combustion, hybrid, and battery-electric vehicles on the same production line – showcasing an efficient and future-proof approach to production.
Performance Meets Innovation
Equipped with dual-motor all-wheel drive, Brembo brakes, and a sport-tuned double wishbone suspension, the RSX promises the driving excitement synonymous with Acura’s Precision Crafted Performance DNA.
Beyond performance, RSX will act as mobile energy storage, capable of powering appliances, charging devices, and even serving as home backup power – underscoring Acura’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.
Introducing the ASIMO OS: A Software-Defined Future
The RSX will mark Acura’s entry into the Software Defined Vehicle era, debuting ASIMO OS, a proprietary operating system designed to learn owner preferences and driving behavior.
Launched earlier at CES 2025, ASIMO OS will manage automated driving, infotainment, and advanced driver-assist systems. With OTA updates, owners can expect continuous improvements, new features, and a deeply personalized driving experience.
RSX Prototype Design: Bold, Athletic, and Futuristic
The RSX Prototype embraces a coupe-like silhouette with a fastback roofline, flared wheel arches, and 21-inch multi-spoke rims showcasing bold red Brembo calipers. Its long wheelbase and short overhangs emphasize a wide, athletic stance.
The front fascia evolves Acura’s Diamond Pentagon design language, now with a separated-headlight arrangement featuring slim daytime running lights and low-mounted LED headlamps. At the rear, a full-width taillight strip pays homage to the second-generation NSX, while the ACURA script across the tailgate introduces a modern new typeface.
According to Yasutake Tsuchida, Acura Creative Director and VP of American Honda R&D:
“Starting from this all-new RSX we will redefine the Acura brand around timeless beauty and a high-tech feel that is essential for a performance and unique brand.”
Looking Ahead
The Acura RSX production model is scheduled for launch in late 2026, marking a pivotal chapter in the brand’s journey toward a fully electrified future. With its blend of dramatic styling, performance-driven engineering, and groundbreaking software, the RSX promises to redefine what an all-electric luxury SUV can be.
? The RSX Prototype isn’t just a preview of Acura’s first EV – it’s the future of the brand.
