2026 Toyota bZ: More Range, Power, and Tech for the Next Generation of Toyota EVs
Toyota is charging forward in its electric vehicle lineup with the debut of the 2026 Toyota bZ — dropping the “4X” from its name but adding more of everything that matters: range, output, charging speed, and modern design.
For the 2026 model year, Toyota’s small electric SUV gains new battery options, a more powerful drivetrain, refined styling, and an upgraded tech package, while introducing the North American Charging System (NACS) port for greater charging access.
Two Battery Options and More Range
The 2026 bZ will be available with two lithium-ion battery sizes:
- 74.7-kWh: Offers up to a manufacturer-estimated 314 miles* on the XLE FWD Plus trim, with strong range numbers across other grades (299 miles Limited FWD, 288 miles XLE AWD, 278 miles Limited AWD).
- 57.7-kWh: Standard on the XLE FWD, delivering an estimated 235 miles* per charge.
A new battery pre-conditioning system optimizes temperatures for quicker DC fast charging, especially in cold climates, and can be triggered automatically via navigation to a charging station.
With DC fast charging under ideal conditions, the bZ can go from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes. An upgraded 11-kW onboard charger improves Level 2 AC charging times, and Plug & Charge capability eliminates the need for multiple charging apps.
More Power and Quicker Acceleration
Toyota has upgraded its eAxles with silicon carbide semiconductors for higher efficiency and output.
- AWD models now deliver 338 hp (up 50%), hitting 0–60 mph in just 4.9 seconds.
- FWD models increase to 221 hp from the previous 201 hp.
AWD trims also get X-MODE with Grip-Control for improved traction and light off-road capability.
Refreshed Exterior Design
The 2026 bZ retains its distinctive SUV shape but adds subtle refinements:
- Slimmer LED daytime running lights integrated into a hammerhead front fascia
- Redesigned front overfenders, with optional color-matched moldings
- New paint combinations, including Wind Chill Pearl, Heavy Metal, and Black
Ground clearance remains at 8.2 inches, with overall dimensions of 184.6 inches in length and 73.2 inches in width.
Upgraded Interior and Comfort
Inside, Toyota focuses on premium feel and user-friendly tech:
- New slim dashboard with 14-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen standard
- 64-color ambient lighting throughout the cabin
- Dual Qi wireless chargers
- SofTex-trimmed heated steering wheel with regenerative braking paddle shifters
- Up to 42.1 inches of front legroom and 27.7 cu. ft. of cargo space
The Limited trim adds ventilated front seats, available heated rear seats, and a 9-speaker JBL audio system.
Connectivity and Safety
The 2026 bZ comes standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Safety Sense 3.0, and Toyota Connected Services trials, including:
- Drive Connect (voice assistant, cloud navigation)
- Remote Connect (climate pre-conditioning, digital key, remote charging management)
- Safety Connect (SOS, roadside assistance, stolen vehicle locator)
Arriving in 2025
The 2026 Toyota bZ will arrive at dealerships in the second half of 2025, with pricing to be announced closer to launch.
With extended range, stronger performance, faster charging, and a cleaner design, the 2026 bZ marks Toyota’s most capable and connected EV yet.
