The New Porsche 911 Cup – Stronger Performance for the 2026 Season
Porsche has officially unveiled the new 911 Cup, the latest evolution of its one-make cup racing car for the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, the various Carrera Cup championships, and other Porsche-sanctioned series worldwide. Built on the updated 992.2 generation 911, this race car will debut on the grid for the 2026 season, featuring enhanced performance, improved efficiency, and better handling for both professional drivers and racing teams.
Sharper Performance from a Proven Engine
Under the hood, the naturally aspirated 4.0-litre six-cylinder boxer engine now delivers 382 kW (520 PS) — 10 PS more than its predecessor. This race-bred engine draws even closer to the road-going 911 GT3 unit, incorporating flow-optimised throttle valves and extended camshaft timings. Power is transmitted through a more robust four-disc sintered metal racing clutch paired with a six-speed sequential gearbox, improving acceleration and launch performance.
Aerodynamics & Lightweight Engineering
Visually, the new 911 Cup sports a front end inspired by the 992.2 GT3, with three-piece front lips for easier, cost-effective repairs. Integrated louvre vents in the fenders improve front-end downforce, while an optimised underbody and “turning vanes” enhance high-speed stability. At the rear, a redesigned swan-neck wing and recycled carbon-fibre body panels cut weight and costs, while boosting aerodynamic efficiency.
Enhanced Braking & Safety
Bigger 380 mm front brake discs with improved ventilation, combined with Bosch’s updated racing ABS, deliver better stopping power and longevity. Safety upgrades include a new stroboscope brake light system for race starts, automatic engine restart after stalls, and improved driver protection with added cockpit padding.
Smarter Cockpit & Electronics
The redesigned multifunction steering wheel now features illuminated buttons and quick-access rotary controls for ABS and traction settings. The upgraded control panel allows in-car adjustments for pit lane speed, exhaust mapping, and more, without the need for a laptop. Enhanced electronics now display tyre temperatures via TPMS, track lap times with a high-precision GPS, and even monitor fire extinguisher battery status.
Racing DNA for Global Series
As Michael Dreiser, Porsche Motorsport’s Director of Sales, explains, “The 911 Cup is one of the best-selling race cars in the world, forming the backbone of our one-make series and excelling in endurance events.” Since 2020, Porsche has produced over 1,130 units of the current GT3 Cup and more than 5,300 one-make 911 race cars in total.
The 2026 Porsche 911 Cup delivers more power, sharper aerodynamics, better braking, and easier operation — while keeping running costs manageable. It’s a true example of Porsche’s commitment to combining motorsport performance with practical usability for customer racing teams.
