World Premiere of the T-Roc: A New Generation of Volkswagen’s Best Seller
The wait is over: Volkswagen has officially unveiled the new generation of the T-Roc, the brand’s best-selling compact SUV. Reimagined from the ground up, the second-generation T-Roc is more expressive, more innovative, and more premium than ever before. With a bold design, high-quality interior, advanced assistance systems, and new hybrid drive options, the T-Roc is ready to set new standards in the segment.
A Bold, Expressive Design
The new T-Roc immediately impresses with its strong, clean lines and powerful proportions. Its signature coupé-like rear profile remains, but the SUV has grown by 12 cm in length, giving it a more dynamic stance and extra room inside.
Lighting plays a big role in the new design. Standard LED headlights and available IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights connect seamlessly to an illuminated Volkswagen logo via a slim light strip. At the rear, a full-width LED bar and an optional illuminated VW logo add a futuristic touch, ensuring the T-Roc stands out day or night.
Premium Interior with Lounge-Like Ambience
Inside, Volkswagen has elevated the T-Roc into premium territory. Soft-touch materials, a newly designed cockpit, and ambient background lighting create a modern lounge-like atmosphere. A new 13-inch infotainment display dominates the dashboard, offering crisp graphics and seamless connectivity.
The T-Roc also borrows innovations from its larger siblings, the Tiguan and Tayron. These include the latest Driving Experience Control system, which lets drivers fine-tune performance, and an optional head-up display, projecting speed and navigation info directly onto the windscreen – a first for this class.
More Space and Comfort
Practicality is another area where the new T-Roc shines. Thanks to its longer dimensions, there’s more space for both passengers and luggage. Even passengers over 1.85 m tall can sit comfortably in the rear. For the first time, the Style trim offers an ergoActive seat with massage function, enhancing comfort on long drives.
The luggage compartment has also grown, now offering 475 liters of cargo capacity – perfect for family trips or active lifestyles.
Next-Level Technology with MQB evo
Built on Volkswagen’s latest MQB evo platform, the new T-Roc benefits from cutting-edge technology. The SUV introduces the newest version of Travel Assist, capable of semi-automated driving and intelligent responses to speed limits.
Other highlights include:
- Park Assist Pro with memory function for fully automated parking (controlled via smartphone).
- Exit Warning System, alerting occupants to oncoming vehicles or cyclists before opening the doors.
- Improved driver-assistance features for added safety and convenience.
Hybrid Powertrains for the Future
Under the hood, the T-Roc is now available exclusively with hybrid powertrains in Europe. At launch, buyers can choose between two 48V mild-hybrid engines (1.5 eTSI with 116 PS and 150 PS).
Later, Volkswagen will add full-hybrid versions offering greater efficiency and electric-only driving capability. For performance enthusiasts, a T-Roc R and 2.0 TSI 4MOTION mild hybrid will also join the lineup, all paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DSG).
Clearer Trims, Richer Features
Volkswagen has simplified the trim structure into four clear options:
- Trend – budget-friendly and functional.
- Life – comfort and practicality.
- Style – design and advanced tech.
- R-Line – sporty styling and performance features.
With bundled packages, configuration is easier and more customer-focused, offering plenty of value at every level.
Colors, Style, and Everyday Versatility
The new T-Roc offers six paint finishes, including eye-catching new shades like Canary Yellow, Flamed Red, and Celestial Blue. A black bi-color roof is also available for added style. Practical touches include an optional towing bracket strong enough to carry heavy e-bikes, enhancing the SUV’s versatility.
Market Launch and Pricing
The new Volkswagen T-Roc will be available for pre-sales in Germany starting August 28, with the official market launch in November. Prices start at €30,845 for the 1.5 eTSI (116 PS).
A European Bestseller, Reinvented
Since its debut in 2017, the T-Roc has become one of Volkswagen’s biggest success stories, with over 2 million units sold worldwide. Now, with its bolder design, innovative technology, and efficient hybrid powertrains, the new T-Roc is set to continue its reign as one of Europe’s most popular compact SUVs.
