RTA Urges Regular Vehicle Inspection as Summer Heat Approaches

As the summer heat approaches, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is urging motorists to prioritize vehicle maintenance and regular inspections to ensure safe road travel. With the expected increase in road travel during the summer season, RTA emphasizes the importance of keeping vehicles well-maintained to minimize the risk of sudden mechanical failures that could lead to accidents.

RTA advises drivers to conduct thorough checks on various components of their vehicles, including tyres, brakes, oils, cooling fluids, air conditioning systems, batteries, lights, and windshield wipers. It is crucial to inspect for any signs of wear and tear, as well as leaks of oil or water. By proactively addressing these maintenance needs, motorists can enhance the safety and reliability of their vehicles, especially in hot weather conditions.

The authority stresses the significance of regular vehicle inspections not only during ownership renewal but throughout the year. Even though annual inspections are mandatory, drivers are urged to continuously monitor the condition of their vehicles, particularly before embarking on road trips or long journeys. This proactive approach to vehicle maintenance aligns with RTA's commitment to promoting road safety and accident prevention.

Bader Al Siri, Executive Director of Traffic at RTA's Traffic and Roads Agency, underscores the critical role of regular vehicle inspection in ensuring road safety. He highlights Dubai's comprehensive traffic safety strategy, which focuses on traffic enforcement, road and vehicle engineering, traffic awareness, and effective management of vehicle movements across the city's roads. Al Siri emphasizes that vehicle safety is paramount for protecting not only drivers and passengers but also all road users.

To raise awareness about the importance of regular maintenance, RTA has initiated awareness campaigns as part of the "Safe Summer" initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior. These campaigns aim to educate vehicle owners about the significance of proactive maintenance measures in enhancing road safety. Through various channels, including social media and customer service centers at driving institutes, car dealerships, and malls, RTA is disseminating messages emphasizing the critical role of regular vehicle inspections and maintenance practices.

By prioritizing vehicle maintenance and conducting regular inspections, motorists can contribute to safer road conditions and reduce the likelihood of accidents, especially during the summer season.
