The inaugural production model resplendent in Snow with distinctive Swedish gold details from the Performance Pack, is a testament to Polestar's commitment to innovation and sustainability. Notably, it is the first Polestar to roll off the assembly line at the Hangzhou Bay factory operated by Geely Holding, powered by renewable electricity carrying the I-REC hydro power certificate. The factory's eco-friendly practices contribute to the Polestar 4's remarkable achievement of having the lowest carbon footprint (19.4-21.4 tCO2e) among all Polestar cars at launch.
Reducing environmental impact extends beyond production, with the Hangzhou Bay factory adopting various measures to minimize waste. From non-chrome passivators to water-based paint and innovative filtering systems, every step is taken to ensure eco-conscious manufacturing.
Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO, expressed pride in the accomplishment, stating, "Polestar 4 stands out in design and performance, a remarkable SUV coupé in many ways. It illustrates the value of our diversified and asset-light approach, making use of our partner and major shareholder’s development and manufacturing expertise."
The Polestar 4, unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2023, is set to make waves with its unique features, including virtual rear window with world-class digital rear-view mirror. Positioned between the Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 in size and price, it incorporates design cues from Polestar's concept cars and claims the title of the fastest Polestar production car to date.
Looking ahead Polestar plans to expand its manufacturing capabilities, with additional production in Busan, South Korea, from the second half of 2025. This expansion aims to cater to the local market and support exports to North American markets.
