Bentley Further Expands Crewe Headquarters with New Engineering Technical Centre
Crewe, UK – September 2025 – Bentley Motors has taken another significant step toward its electrified future with the official opening of its state-of-the-art Engineering Technical Centre at the brand’s carbon-neutral headquarters in Crewe. The new facility, inaugurated by Chairman and CEO Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser and Board Member for R&D Dr. Matthias Rabe, will serve as the hub for innovation, testing, and development of Bentley’s next-generation luxury cars.
A New Era of Development at Crewe
Covering 13,000 sqm across two floors, the Engineering Technical Centre represents a major milestone in Bentley’s long-term investment programme at the historic Pyms Lane factory, where every Bentley is handcrafted. The centre has been designed to unite virtual and physical development processes, enabling seamless collaboration across engineering teams.
The facility features a prototype workshop for upcoming models, advanced materials development laboratories, and a dedicated software integration department. These teams will focus on training, testing, and launch preparation for software-driven, digital, and high-voltage electrical systems—an area central to Bentley’s transformation toward electrification.
From Heritage to Electrification
The majority of departments now housed in the new centre were previously located in the A1 building, the oldest structure on the Crewe site. That building is now being transformed into Bentley’s dedicated BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) assembly line, which is expected to begin production in 2027.
Speaking at the opening, Dr. Matthias Rabe emphasized the strategic importance of the centre:
“Our Beyond100+ strategy maps out a fundamental programme of change, using what is known now and adapting that vision as we adopt yet-to-be discovered technologies in the future. This new Engineering Technical Centre is a key building block for the successful delivery of this strategy and helps us turn engineering concepts into reality at the heart of our development.”
Supporting the Beyond100+ Vision
Bentley’s Beyond100+ strategy is its bold roadmap to reinvent every model in its portfolio with electrification, digital connectivity, and autonomous driving capabilities, all while maintaining its reputation for handcrafted luxury.
The Engineering Technical Centre complements other recent investments at Crewe, including the new Design Studio, and ongoing projects such as the next-generation Paint Shop and the Integrated Logistics Centre, both scheduled to open in 2026.
Looking Ahead
As Bentley positions itself at the forefront of sustainable luxury mobility, the new Engineering Technical Centre represents more than just bricks and mortar—it is a symbol of the marque’s commitment to craftsmanship, innovation, and an electrified future.
The expansion ensures that Bentley remains not only a custodian of heritage and performance but also a pioneer in delivering the most advanced, elegant, and performance-driven vehicles for generations to come.
