The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren project was unveiled at the 1999 British Grand Prix, marking the beginning of remarkable partnership between McLaren and Mercedes-Benz. This collaboration, which saw success in Formula 1, extended its winning formula to the SLR McLaren, combining McLaren's chassis development and carbon fiber expertise with Mercedes engine power.

In May 2023 MSO completed the handover of the first SLR High Downforce Kit (HDK) conversions. The limited run of 12 SLR HDKs has already been sold, underlining the continued allure of this iconic collaboration.
